This video is from our 2 day trip to Lady Elliot Island in January 2018. You get to the island from Hervey Bay with a small 9 person plane and land on the island (that is just big enough for a landing strip). The island is in the southern end of the great barrier reef. The coral is still very colourfull and not bleached yet like other islands, because the water is colder and therefore preserves the coral better.
It is a coral island, so you can snorkel and dive straight from the beach and on all sides of the island. Lady Elliot is called the home of the Manta ray and we can say that’s true, we saw at least 6 mantas, many eagle rays of sorts, small sharks and many turtles. Aside from this, there was an array of fish and beautiful coral.
